Week of August 22nd-26th

Focus for this week will include:

ELA/Reading:  sequence, ask and answer questions, narrative nonfiction, compound words, and subjects in a sentence. ( No vocabulary and comprehension test this week;
Spelling, Grammar, and Cold Read tests are on Friday.) 
 
Math: Chapter 1 Review (Monday) and Chapter 1 Test (Tuesday). We will start Chapter 2 on Wednesday. There will only be homework on Wednesday and Thursday night this week.
 
Science: Structure and Function of Plants
 
Social Studies:  Studies Weekly Week 2: Types of Sources- We will work through the newspaper throughout the week. The newspaper will come home on Thursday. We will have an open "newspaper" test on Friday.
 
Reminders:
***AR points and averages are entered in as a grade weekly.  Each student should earn at least 3 points per week and keep their test average at 85% or higher. 
***By the end of this week (8/22-8/26), students should have 6 A.R. points.
***Please make sure students are reading each night in their AR level.
***At the beginning of Chapter 2, student's homework will be graded for accuracy.
 
Study Island: Each week students will be assigned 3 study island assignments. They'll have center time, tech lab time, and free time in the class throughout the week to complete these. Study Island is NOT to be done at home. On Friday, we will take their best grade on the assignment and put it in the gradebook. This week their lessons are:
***Multiplication and Division Facts,
***Punctuation, and
Location and People's Lives.

August 25th- Open House from 5:00-5:30 or 5:30-6:00
August 26th- Odanost House Celebration
August 31st- Early Release
